Arsenal have made their first move of the transfer window and bid £20m to sign Jamie Vardy, 29, and trigger the strikers release clause.
Reports have emerged the Gunners are in advanced talks with Leicester City, with the only stumbling block being dates of payments.
Vardy is currently away on international duty with England preparing for Euro 2016, but would be given permission to leave to conclude any move.
