Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk are well known for their collection of talented Brazilian attackers, but according to the Metro there is one in particular that wants away from the club. Thankfully for Bernard, who happens to have started registering his best ever performances in a Shakhtar shirt in the final year of his contract, there are a multitude of clubs interested in acquiring his services.
The Premier League looks as if it could be a potential destination for the Brazilian, and Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all reportedly inquired about Bernard’s availability. The Ukrainians have responded by slapping an £11.5m price tag on his head, which represents somewhat of a bargain in the current financial climate of football.
Bernard has largely failed to impress at Shakhtar, but this season he has already netted three times in the Ukrainian league, as well as bagging a brilliant brace against Feyenoord in the Champions League. His exploits have thus earned him a lot of respect, and the Brazilian is an extremely versatile forward, capable of playing both through the middle as a striker and as a wide player.
Arsenal perhaps represent the most realistic option for the player as they are in the market for a replacement for Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez. Bernard would represent a definite downgrade, though he certainly has the talent to succeed in North London.
