Both Arsenal and Liverpool have received a boost today as German giants Bayern Munich have reportedly dropped their interest in Monaco youngster Thomas Lemar, according to ESPN.

The winger has been heavily linked with a move to the two Premier League clubs and it now appears as if it will be a straight race to see which red shirt the French international will wear next season.

Lemar was part of a Monaco side that stunned everyone last season, winning Ligue 1 by eight points over rivals PSG and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League. The winger contributed nine goals and ten assists in the league and added a further two goals and four assists in Europe.

Despite his hugely impressive season the young Frenchman was not part of the mass exodus in the summer, though many clubs reportedly showed an interest. Lemar has started off this campaign by registering two assists in eight Ligue 1 games and continued good form would certainly increase the likelihood of a Premier League move.

Arsenal will be looking to replace Alexis Sanchez, whose departure seems imminent, and the Monaco winger could well be a perfect fit. Liverpool on the other hand already have Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané, though the latter is currently injured, and Lemar could well find it difficult to establish himself as an every-week starter.
