Belgium international Dries Mertens has emerged as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers under the tactical guidance of Napoli head coach Maurizio Sarri.
Mertens has already bagged seven goals and managed three assists in five Serie A matches this season. The 30-year-old only continued his fantastic exploits from last term when he scored 28 goals in 35 games and it’s fair to say that a number of clubs has been more than impressed.
Premier League giants Arsenal are said to have attempted to sign the Belgian this summer before he opted to extend his contract with Napoli and are now being touted to make a return for the Napoli star in January.
Mertens could be available for as little as £26.5 million which is the release clause stated in his contract and Arsenal are likely to face stiff competition for his services is the Belgian manages to extend his formidable form.
